Kennys Senior Photos

Updated: Nov 23, 2025

The journey started when Kenny’s mom added me on Facebook out of the blue years back. It was a simple gesture that laid the groundwork for future collaboration. About three years ago, they hired me for a family session at Swan Dahlia Farm in Canby, Oregon. That session was relaxed and full of fun moments, setting a tone of trust and comfort. It was a nice and sunny summer day, so it was quite busy, so we made our way down the road and took some of my favorite images in front of some one's yard with nice green trees and ivy.

Years later, she reached out again, this time for Kens senior photos. They drove over two hours to meet at a location that would offer both character and variety: Downtown Olympia. I'm so happy to have photographed this senior session. It led to some awesome sessions including one senior and his training Helicopter at Glacier Aviation Academy - post coming soon.

Old School Pizzeria and Surroundings

Starting at Old School Pizzeria to meet and enjoy a slice and capture a few booth photos, the session quickly moved into a few different alleys along 4th Avenue such as the Graffiti Wall, to catch the last bit of light and dry weather we had left. Downtown alleyways provide textured backdrops with weathered brick walls with bold graffiti and murals. The urban vibe contrasted nicely with Kenny’s casual style, creating a dynamic visual story.

The session ended at Legends Arcade. The arcade’s vibrant lights and playful atmosphere brought energy and personality to the final shots.

Inspiration for Future Sessions

Kenny’s session did more than create beautiful images. It inspired another senior session called Soulful Senior, showing how one creative shoot can spark ideas and influence future work. This ripple effect highlights the importance of thoughtful locations and genuine connections in photography.

Tips for Planning a Senior Photo Session

Kenny’s session offers useful lessons for anyone planning senior photos:

  • Choose meaningful locations. Places that hold personal or local significance add depth to photos.

  • Mix urban and natural settings. Combining different backdrops creates variety and interest.

  • Allow time to explore. Walking through local shops, alleys or arcades can reveal unexpected photo opportunities.

  • Build relationships. Trust between photographer and subject leads to more relaxed and authentic images.

  • Draw inspiration from past sessions. Each shoot can inform and improve the next.

  • Bring more than one outfit or another jacket. Multiple outfits or even a simple jacket can change the whole vibe of the image.

Capturing More Than Just Photos

Senior portraits signify a milestone, best captured through personality, environment, and story. Kenny’s photos achieve this by combining urban charm and playful energy. The two-hour drive highlights how dedication and creativity create lasting memories.

Families and seniors should consider locations that tell their story and work with photographers who value both connection and composition.

Inspired by Kenny's session? Reach out to local photographers to find unique locations for a personal and fun experience. Senior year celebrates growth and individuality, and your photos should reflect that.
